At CES 2022, where BMW is present only virtually, the Bavarian auto giant demonstrated the work of a unique technology that allows you to change the color of the car body almost instantly, with the push of a button.
There has not yet been an official demonstration of the technology, but one of the Twitter users showed it to work. The video shows a dark gray car, which suddenly turns white in a couple of seconds – probably the right button is pressed by a person standing next to the car. The color change looks futuristic, it may even seem that the video was created using computer graphics.
This color changing @BMWUSA #iX is wild! It’s apparently very temperature sensitive so they have a backup in a trailer in case this one gets too hot / cold pic.twitter.com/lXG1Gw0IKY

Tech companies and automakers regularly showcase powerful innovations at CES over the years; some technologies subsequently enter the market, others remain in prototypes. While the intentions of BMW are not clear: the company warned in advance that it was going to demonstrate this solution, but did not specify whether it was going to launch it on the market.
The people who tweeted this solution have clarified that the paint is very sensitive to temperature changes. Therefore, the automaker had to allocate two electric vehicles to demonstrate the technology – a spare was needed in case the first overheated or overcooled.
