The federal Secretariat for Security and Citizen Protection announced appointments in positions close to the head and former secretary of the government of Mexico City, Rosa Icela Rodríguez. Among the new officials who took office this Tuesday is the head of the Police, Penitentiary and Private Security Policy Unit, whose new head is Antonio Hazael Ruiz Ortega, former director of the Mexico City prison system, who left his post in November 2021.

Hazael Ruiz controversies

In February 2021, elements of the SSC carried out an operation in the Oriente and Sur prisons, where televisions, radios, cash and cell phones were found in cells, even though these objects are prohibited. One inmate even had a toucan as a pet. There have also been threats once morest Ruiz by members of criminal organizations. Dolores Ceñal Murga , who was part of the team that protects and assists President López Obrador called “Assistantship” was appointed as general director of Criminal Analysis. She has a degree in psychology and has two master’s degrees; in forensic psychology and neuropsychology and has a diploma in criminology and a course on serial killers at the National Institute of Criminal Sciences (INACIPE). The capital deputy with a license Isabela Rosales Herrera will assume the position as head of the strategic analysis and linkage unit. The morenista was president of the board of directors of the Congress of the City in the second year of the first legislature. Although she tried to be re-elected representing Álvaro Obregón, she did not win the candidacy and was included in the lists of multi-member deputies. Carlos Augusto Moreles , former private secretary of the head of government Claudia Sheinbaum, will assume the unit of security policies and strategies for the construction of peace, replacing Arturo Medina, a man close and loyal to Rosa Icela Rodríguez, who was recently appointed prosecutor of the federation.
