Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung announced that he would connect the hair loss drug health insurance application with his pledge. An online community of bald people gathered, saying, “I will plant properly in the future. For my hair, Jae-myung Lee.”

On the 4th, on the domestic online community DC Inside’s ‘Hair Loss Gallery’, an image of support for Lee was uploaded. As the news spread that Candidate Lee would review the plan to select health insurance for hair loss medicine, which was proposed by the party’s Dynamite Youth Election Countermeasures Committee, as a pledge of ‘sohwaeng’.

Sohwakhaeng is an abbreviation for ‘small but certain happiness’. In the meantime, Candidate Lee has consistently offered promises related to people’s livelihood under the name of So Hak-haeng.

Members of the Hair Loss Gallery expressed their support for Lee, saying, “Lee took care of the pain of a man in his 30s,” and “The reality is that he searches pharmacies and buys directly overseas to save even a penny for hair loss pills.”

Democratic lawmaker Park Min-min, who is a ‘hairless person’, also welcomed the news of candidate Lee’s review of hair loss drug health insurance. On the same day, he shared an article on his Facebook page regarding the review of candidate Lee’s hair loss drug health insurance policy and wrote, “For me, Lee Jae-myung.”

Some critics also criticized that the application of health insurance for hair loss treatment might worsen the financial situation. Applying health insurance to hair loss drugs is a populist promise, and the position is that health insurance should not be applied to drugs for preventing hair loss, not for treatment.

“The application of health insurance for hair loss pills is highly likely to be adopted as an actual pledge following discussion with the working-level staff of the policy headquarters,” said an official of the youth leadership committee.
