Paschke once morest Kobayashi, Wellinger once morest Sato: The third station of the Four Hills Tournament brings some difficult duels for the German ski jumpers: Here you can find an overview of all knockout duels at the Bergisel jumping in Innsbruck.
The third station of the 70th Four Hills Tournament promises exciting duels in the first round. The German ski jumpers are sometimes faced with difficult tasks: Pius Paschke in particular has to hope for a place among the lucky losers following placing 50 in the qualification, because he will meet winner Kobayashi in the first round on Tuesday.
It will be anything but easy for Constantin Schmid, who meets Piotr Zyla from Poland, as well as for Andreas Wellinger, who has to play once morest the Japanese Yukiya Sato.
The Austrians also hoped for a different end result: Thomas Lackner from the national group will meet his compatriot Philipp Aschenwald, of all people.
The principle of the knockout duels is easy to explain: The winner of the qualification competes in the first round of the competition on Wednesday once morest the 50th of the qualification, the second placed meets the 49th of the preliminary round. This means that only the winners of the 25 duels make it to the next round, as well as the five losers with the highest points (“lucky losers”).
