Soyeon Schröder-Kim posted a photo of her husband, former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, at the stove. He now reacts to the ridicule in an interview.

Soyeon Schröder-Kim (51) keeps her 33,500 followers on Instagram up to date regarding their private and professional activities with and without her husband, former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder (77, SPD). Last she posted Silvesterfoto, on which the two celebrate an elegant “Dinner for Two” in “Dinner for One” fashion. The post before showed the couple happy and relaxed in a snowy landscape.

But it can also be more private. In May 2020, Schröder-Kim posted a photo of her husband on Instagramthat amused many. In the photo, the former Chancellor is standing by the stove in a sleeveless vest and is fiddling with a frying pan. Schröder-Kim’s comment at the time: “The moderator asked me whether my husband was also Chancellor at home. The photo explains that he is still sovereign, but more at home at the frying pan.”

In a new one Interview with the industry blog for media makers “Turi2” Gerhard Schröder was asked whether such pictures of him might be “too trashy”. “I say to them: people, this is my life and not yours. I do what I think is right and you do your stuff,” he countered. “People don’t just want to hear political statements from politicians, they also want to know: What else is he doing? And I don’t think that’s wrong in a democracy,” he continued.

Soyeon Schröder-Kim and Gerhard Schröder have been married since 2018. For him it is the fifth marriage, for her the second. Schröder was Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1998 to 2005 and made a name for himself among other things as “Basta Chancellor”, who also speaks a word of power.
