Colombia will require PCR test to those who enter both by sea and by air

Through Resolution 2383 of 2021, the Ministry of Health adopted several sanitary control measures for the entry into the country of national or foreign travelers who intend to enter by air and sea, for example, on cruise ships.

According to the provision, travelers over 18 years of age who enter the country on cruise ships, regardless of the time they are going to stay in the country, must present the vaccination certificate or card with the complete scheme or at least with the beginning of the scheme.

Likewise, it is established that all international travelers who intend to enter the country must present the result of the PCR test with a negative result issued no more than 72 hours before the time and date of boarding.

According to Julián Fernández Niño, director of Epidemiology and Demography, “these controls are taken due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, which already causes outbreaks on international cruise ships where people do not keep physical distance and where leisure activities generate greater relaxation of protection ”.

The Ministry of Health also decided that all travelers must register in the Check-Mig app and must respond to phone calls from the health authority.

These measures cover both national and foreign travelers entering the country, as well as the crew.

“All international travelers 18 years of age and older who enter Colombia must present the certificate or vaccination card with a complete schedule, having a minimum of 14 days from the date the schedule was completed. The required vaccinations will be those authorized by the World Health Organization, or those officially approved by a country recognized as territory of the United Nations “.

“For foreigners 18 years of age or older, non-residents in Colombia, who do not have a complete vaccination scheme or who do not meet 14 days following completing the scheme, may enter the country presenting a PCR test with a negative result, issued with a No more than 72 hours in advance of the initially scheduled boarding date and time. Foreign non-residents in Colombia who have not started a vaccination scheme may not be exempted from this requirement, or present proof as an alternative entry, “says the Resolution.

And it adds that “in the exclusive case of Colombians, foreigners with permanent residence in Colombia, diplomats and their dependents aged 18 years or over, who do not have a vaccination card or who have an incomplete vaccination scheme that do not meet 14 days having completed the scheme, they must submit a PCR test with a negative result, issued no more than 72 hours before the initially scheduled date and time of shipment “, dictates the document.
