After no audience was allowed to participate in the previous year due to the corona lockdown, this year took place for the third time Daniel barenboim conducted New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic on January 1st, 2022 in front of a limited number of 1,000 guests.
According to the broadcast, there were up to 1.217 million viewers on ORF 2 on ORF. On average, the (wider) second part of the concert was followed by 1.161 million with a market share of 60 percent. With this market share, the New Year’s Concert 2022 reached its top value since 2014.
The first part of the world’s most watched classical music event, which this year was shown in 92 countries on all five continents, had already reached up to 1.013 million people.
The ORF film made by Georg Riha during the concert break with the title “Mission Apollo – Austria’s World Heritage”, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention and Austria’s accession to the same 30 years ago, was also successful. These might not be missed up to 1.042 million, on average the 25-minute show achieved 1.018 million and a market share of 59.
