Spanish tax authorities‘ Customs Surveillance intercepted a semi-rigid vessel east of the Strait of Gibraltar, confiscating over 4,700 kilograms of hashish. As per the Area Newspaper, the action also resulted in the apprehension of three crew members, all Moroccan citizens.
Utilizing maritime aerial assets late Wednesday, this operation marked the largest hashish seizure by customs officials, as stated in an official agency announcement. Authorities believe this boat served as a primary source, supplying smaller inflatable vessels smuggling narcotics into Spain.
Inspectors found the craft lacked basic living standards. The crew had minimal movement, completely hemmed in by bundles of narcotics that extended beyond the inflatable pontoons.
