A gathering of youths launched fireworks parallel to the ground on New Year’s Eve in Hoogstraten, prompting the mayor to denounce their actions as unlawful.

The incident was captured on video and disseminated online: young individuals firing fireworks horizontally along a Hoogstraten (Antwerp) street on New Year’s Eve, disregarding nearby pedestrians. Fortunately, no one sustained injuries.

Mayor Marc Van Aperen (Hoogstraten Leeft) received numerous complaints. He characterized the actions as reckless and illegal, expressing hope in the police’s ability to identify those responsible.
