Prince Charles’ ex-mistress proves her feet.. Queen Elizabeth gives Camilla a high medal

Queen Elizabeth II, on Friday, bestowed Camilla, the wife of the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, and his former lover, the “Dame Medal” of the rank of “Lady” (Dame), the highest equestrian title in the United Kingdom, thus dedicating the growing role in the monarchy to this character. which was previously unpopular.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement that “Her Majesty the Queen is pleased to award her Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall (…) the very high Medal of Rabat, in the rank of Lady Royal.”

The Queen awards this medal by personal decision without consulting the Prime Minister. Camilla thus became in the same rank with the children of the Queen.

King Edward III created the General Ribat Medal in 1348 during the Hundred Years’ War.

This title is a very important milestone for Camilla, 74, who was able to establish herself as a key figure in the British monarchy, following remaining unpopular for a long time, given that she was Prince Charles’ mistress during his marriage to the popular Lady Diana.

And the Duchess of Cornwall has a greater public presence and wider popularity due to her multiple business and activities since Queen Elizabeth (95 years) began withdrawing gradually in order to protect herself healthily.

Camilla won the hearts of Britons thanks to her interest in matters of great importance to them, such as reading to defending animals. During the quarantine period, she also expressed her admiration for the successful TV program “Strictly Cam Dancing”, in which famous people dance.

Since her marriage to Prince Charles in 2005 in a low-profile civil ceremony that the Queen did not attend, Camilla’s position in the monarchy has been the subject of debate focusing on whether she will be Queen Consort or Princess Consort when her husband takes the throne.

Camilla, following marrying Charles, chose not to take the title Princess of Wales, which Diana had previously held, out of consideration for the feelings of the late Lady’s fans.
