A trip to Iceland did not go exactly as planned for an American teacher.
Chicago native Marisa Fotieo had to isolate herself in the bathroom for several hours following being tested positive in mid-flight!
The young woman, who was traveling with her brother and father, said her throat started to hurt an hour following take off.
Although she had taken two PCR tests and five rapid tests before she left, she decided to perform another rapid test on the plane.
When it tested positive, a member of the flight crew asked if she might stay in the washroom, which she agreed to protect the other passengers.
Ms Fotieo told CNN that staying in the bathroom was the only solution, since the plane was full and there was no possibility of isolating it in any other way.
Once in Iceland, she was taken to a hotel where she completed her quarantine, not without a few gifts offered by the flight attendants of the plane.
