9,901 more confirmed cases in Hong Kong, 8 more deaths

The Department of Health announced today (2nd) that there were 9,901 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hong Kong, including 9,714 local cases and 187 imported cases.

The Hospital Authority announced that eight more patients died today, including seven men and one woman. The ages ranged from 57 to 92 years, and 3 of them had not completed the three-dose vaccination. Among them, the 82-year-old male patient was not vaccinated. On August 22, his self-rapid test was positive. He fainted at home yesterday and had no heartbeat when he was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital.

In terms of school cases, 237 schools reported 337 new cases of COVID-19, and 19 more teachers and students were recruited in the other 6 schools, and the classes involved must be suspended for a week.

The Hospital Authority also announced that 158 ​​new employees have tested positive. There were two suspected nosocomial infections. An 82-year-old female patient with chronic lung disease in the internal medicine ward of the Buddhist Hospital of Hong Kong was transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She was diagnosed on the same day and is now in critical condition. Later, two patients with the same illness were found to have also been diagnosed. In addition, in the internal medicine and geriatric wards of Princess Margaret Hospital, because a 91-year-old male patient was diagnosed, it was found that 3 people in the same ward were diagnosed, and visits to these two wards have been suspended.
