98.63% of the electoral roll will be able to participate

The electoral advisor and president of the commission, Ciro Murayama, highlighted that, of the total number of citizens who will be able to participate in the exercise of direct democracy, 48 million 160,197 are women and 44 million 645,227 are men.

In such a way that, for the exercise promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to be binding, 37 million 122,169 citizens will be required to go to the more than 57,000 polling stations on April 10; that is, 40% of the nominal list of voters.

Murayama commented that this project must be endorsed by the General Council of the INE in its session scheduled for March 23, which will give full certainty of the universe of voters, as well as the minimum threshold of 40% citizen participation. so that this exercise can be, in constitutional terms, binding.

“The work carried out by the INE is carried out with all normality, rigor, adherence to the rules and efficiency,” said the councilor Jaime Rivera.

This, remembering that the integration of the nominal list so that citizens can exercise their vote in the polls, requires making a cut before this exercise is held.

The agreement endorsed during the extraordinary session held virtually was also endorsed by the advisors who are members of the RFE Commission, Carla Humphrey, Uuc-Kib Espadas and Roberto Ruiz, which was attended by the representatives of the political parties, with voice, but without vote.
