97 thousand consumers are still without electricity: some do not even have a mobile connection or the Internet | Business

“The situation is very complicated. First, we have an autumn storm that happened in the summer – again, the wind strength, the gusts, the amount of precipitation. In places, the wind reached 38 m/s. Such a storm happened in the summer, at the very time when the trees were blooming – both the leaves and the branches were soaked with water from the rain and could not withstand it. They fell on the wires not only in forests, but everywhere – in yards, on the streets. This complicates the situation the most, because the quantity is very large – we have over 6 thousand. points where certain works need to be done”, said R. Juodkienė.

She said that normally during storms, some of the supports fall off, but they can be rebuilt, and during this storm, many of the concrete supports simply snapped in half.

“The most difficult thing was that it was windy and raining for more than a day, because of that we couldn’t raise the turrets and climb the supports at dusk last night. During the night, the employees worked, they did the work they could do – 20-30 thousand per night. consumers’ electricity is connected,” said the representative of ESO.

According to her, currently the situation is relatively best in Klaipėda region (1 thousand consumers do not have electricity), Alytus region (2 thousand consumers). Meanwhile, about 10,000 people in the Kaunas region do not have electricity. users, in the Šiauliai region – 13 thousand, in Utena – 9 thousand.

The worst situation is in the Vilnius region, where about 73 thousand people are still without electricity. users. 52 thousand people do not have electricity in Vilnius city and district alone. people, in the Šalčininkai district – 8 thousand, Širvintos – 4 thousand, Trakai – 7.8 thousand.

“The number of consumers without electricity is decreasing, but due to the abundance of points, just not as fast as we would like. We will restore the electricity supply to some consumers within the next 24 hours, but where the most difficult sections are, it will definitely take some time,” said R. Juodkienė.

Some do not have internet or mobile connection either

After the power outages in various areas of the country, another problem became apparent – due to power outages, part of the mobile communication stations are not working, which means that some users still do not have internet or even mobile connection.

As Asta Buitkutė, head of Tele2’s public relations, said on Monday, base stations are not directly affected by such rains or storms, but when the power supply is disrupted due to wind and falling trees, mobile base stations operate as long as their batteries last – from a few to a dozen hours.

According to her, the stations without electricity on Tuesday are still in the districts and suburbs – less than a tenth of such stations are currently available. Most of these are forested areas, so a large part of Tele2’s customers living in cities do not feel the connection disturbances.

“Vilnius, Kaunas, Jonava districts may still face communication disruptions, because the storm passed here last, but the situation is good in the cities themselves. Almost 40% of the electricity supply was restored overnight. affected stations. The situation is steadily improving as the storm has subsided and services are able to work at full capacity.”

Telia’s press representative Audrius Stasiulaitis informed that the number of affected stations decreased by a fifth during the day, and about 10 more base stations should be connected in the next few hours.

“The most difficult situation can be in remote, sparsely populated, forested or border areas where there is no electricity and the mobile network is not dense. There, the failure of the station can affect the connection, and the ESO restoration work to such places comes later. But we take generators to such places, we try to cover it wherever possible,” he said.

Meanwhile, “Bitė” announces that currently around 7% still do not have electricity. communication towers, which may affect the quality of the Internet. The most difficult situation remains in the Northern part of the country and Southeastern Lithuania, it is written in the press release.

“There are no dramatic situations in our network, which is especially important – the older call technology works for customers. Despite this, the difficult situation remains in the districts of Kelmė and Širvintos”, Gintas Butėnas, CEO of Bitė Lietuva, is quoted in the press release.
