Since December 2022, he is the third patient to die in the establishment’s emergency room, for lack of adequate care.
A 91-year-old man died on April 12 in the emergency room of the Grenoble University Hospital, following having waited three days on a hospital bed for a place in geriatrics, reports France Blue. When he arrived at the establishment, his vital prognosis was not engaged, the doctors only evoking a state of confusion linked to his age.
Lying for 72 hours, however, would have worsened his condition. In the ranks of the CHU, the death of the man is all the more difficult to accept as it is the third since December 2022.
As France Bleu recalls, a 47-year-old woman died at the end of last year in the emergency room toilets. Shortly following, a second patient had lost his life within the walls of the establishment.
A report to the prosecutor
Nearby FigaroSara Fernandez, secretary general of the CGT within the CHU of Grenoble, affirms that “the patients are in danger” following the closure of 200 beds in the hospital during the last three years.
A report was made to the Grenoble prosecutor, for “endangering the lives of others”. But for trade unionists, no significant change allowing better patient care has so far been recorded.
