9,089 elderly clients benefited from mental health services during 2023

The Emirates Health Services Corporation renewed its commitment to providing comprehensive and integrated health care for senior citizens, on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, and within the framework of its strategic vision aimed at enhancing the quality of life of all members of society, and considering the elderly an essential part of the social fabric in the country, and the Corporation continues to launch innovative initiatives. It aims to improve their mental and physical health, and provide the necessary support to ensure their well-being, in line with the directives of the wise leadership of the UAE, which attaches great importance to providing world-class health care to senior citizens.

Dr. Nour Al Muhairi, Director of the Psychiatry Department at the Emirates Health Services Corporation, confirmed that senior citizens were and continue to be at the heart of the organization’s strategy aimed at providing the best health care services.
Statistics from the Emirates Health Services Corporation indicate a significant increase in the number of beneficiaries of mental health services for the elderly, as the number of beneficiaries reached 9,098 elderly clients in 2023, compared to 8,782 clients in 2022, and this growth reflects the effectiveness of the programs and initiatives it launched. The Foundation and its wide-ranging impact, including the “Awnak” service, which aims to give priority to the elderly by allocating special parking spaces and waiting areas for them in various health facilities.
As part of its endeavor to achieve sustainability in health care services for senior citizens and the elderly, the Foundation has launched many purposeful initiatives, the most recent of which is improving the service of delivering medicines and medical supplies to the elderly at the Foundation’s Fujairah Hospital by reducing the time for obtaining service by 80%, in addition to improving A package of services within the “Our Elders, Barakat Al-Dar” initiative.
