9 doctors and 70 nurses in the Bay Area will work in a public hospital next month, involving multiple specialties

[Ming Pao News]In order to relieve the pressure on the manpower of the Hospital Authority, the Bureau launched the Greater Bay Area Medical Talent Exchange Program last September. The chairman of the Hospital Authority, Fan Hung-ling, announced yesterday that the first batch of 9 specialists has finally obtained “limited registration”, involving infectious diseases, cardiovascular and other specialties, together with 70 nurses from Guangdong Province with an average seniority of regarding 8 years. I will come to Hong Kong next month to work in the public court. In the past, there was no training system for specialist doctors in the Mainland. Peng Hongchang, director of the Association of Community Organizations who cares regarding the rights of patients, said that he believes that doctors who come to Hong Kong have rich experience, but considering the public perception, he thinks that the Hospital Authority can announce more seniority and responsibilities of doctors who come to Hong Kong range etc. Some members of the Legislative Council said that it is an “outdated idea” to think that the qualifications of mainland doctors are not as good as those of local specialists because of the differences in professional titles and systems between the two places.
