Burkina/Human rights: 88 cases of violations recorded in four municipalities in the North
Ouahigouya, August 25, 2022 (AIB)- Eighty-eight (88) cases of human rights violations have been detected in the communes of Ouahigouya, Thiou, Ouindigui and Titao, in the North region in the first quarter of 2022, the Research-Action Group on Human Security (GRASH) announced on Tuesday during its exchange meeting with actors involved in the field.
This discussion meeting is part of the implementation of the project “Documentation of cases of violations and abuses of human rights in the municipalities of Ouahigouya, Thiou, Ouindigui and Titao”.
On the occasion, actors from civil society, the media and the administration took note of the results of the human rights monitoring carried out during the first quarter of 2022.
The Executive Director of the Research-Action Group on Human Security (GRASH), Enock Kéré, specified that it is in a context of security deterioration and serious human rights violence that 88 cases were listed in Ouahigouya, Thiou, Ouindigui and Titao.
This activity, according to Mr. Kéré, is part of the achievement of the objectives of the group which intends to contribute to the fight once morest insecurity, terrorism and for the strengthening of the capacities of people and organizations in terms of human security.
According to the study, in these four municipalities, the cases of violations are mainly caused by armed terrorist groups (75%), followed by the Defense and Security Forces, volunteers for the defense of the homeland and civilians.
The report also highlights 9 serious cases, 2 of which are being followed up for a better explanation.
This analysis of the human rights situation led to the formulation of recommendations for the authorities, NGOs and other international partners who intervene in the field and in the humanitarian field.
