Unlike almost all cell phones that lose their value as soon as purchased, the iPhone launched in 2007 has seen its value greatly appreciate over the years.

Unveiled for the first time on January 9, 2007, the revolutionary device with its touch screen had been launched on the market with a price of US$599, recalled the house LCG Auctions, responsible for the sale of the phone.

Phone owner Karen Green told ‘Doctor & The Diva’ that she received her iPhone as a gift from a friend following getting a new job. However, she never even took the phone out of its box, which is even still protected by a plastic wrap to this day.

“I didn’t want to get rid of my new phone and I said to myself ‘it’s an iPhone. It will never be outdated,’ said a bit naively Ms. Green on the set, referring to the longevity of computers. from Apple.

An antiques expert had estimated on the show that the phone might be worth around US$5,000.

The device would obviously be of little use to anyone who wanted to use it today. It came with 8 Gb of memory and a 2 megapixel camera, impressive specs at the time, but long since downgraded.

By comparison, the newest device in the lineup, the iPhone 14 Pro, features 128GB of internal memory and a 48-megapixel camera.
