IN the context of carrying out cooperative reform, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (KemenKop UKM) confirmed that it had dissolved as many as 82,000 cooperatives.

“In 2014, there were 209,488 corporate units, then today there were 130,119 cooperative units recorded. This means that in terms of the number of entities there has been a decline because in the 2014-2019 period we have disbanded no less than 82,000 cooperatives,” said Ahmad in Kemenkop UKM Office, Thursday (10/10).

Even though as many as 82,000 cooperatives had been disbanded, Ahmad revealed that no complaints had been directed to the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises.

This means, he continued, that as many as 82,000 cooperatives that were disbanded by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises were cooperatives that were “dead”.

“Because at that time, all cooperatives that were registered as legal entities were still recorded as cooperatives. Those that had never been (registered), then verified whether the cooperative was still active or not active. So at that time we knew about cooperatives with name plates,” he explained.

On the other hand, even though as many as 82,000 cooperatives were disbanded, the total assets obtained by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs based on its online data system (ODS) were recorded to have increased.

“When we recorded the number of cooperative assets at 209,000, our ODS data recorded the total assets at IDR 200 trillion. But then after we disbanded the cooperative which was no longer active and now recorded as 130,119 cooperative units, the total assets recorded in our ODS increased to IDR 254,” 17 trillion,” he concluded.
