An 80-year-old woman lost her life following being hit by a vehicle on Friday evening on rue Emile Vandervelde in Lodelinsart (Charleroi, Hainaut), the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Sunday morning. The driver involved in the incident was not placed under arrest warrant.
The accident occurred on Friday around 8:30 p.m. in the street where the elderly person lived. According to the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office, contacted on Sunday morning, the latter found herself on the road “in a place where there were no pedestrian crossings”. She succumbed to her injuries.
The judicial authority also confirms that the driver involved was not placed under arrest warrant. “According to the first elements of the investigation, the driver was not at fault. He was not under the influence and was driving at a limited speed,” said substitute Di Vincenzo. An expert was commissioned by the prosecution.
