Bombay High Court has settled the sexual harassment case filed by a woman from Bihar once morest Benoy Kodiyeri. Binoy handed over Rs 80 lakh to the girl for the child’s living expenses and education. Although the settlement agreement says this amount, there are indications that more was paid.

The agreement does not mention the paternity of the child. Benoi also conveyed the information regarding the payment. Subsequently, the High Court accepted the settlement agreement signed by the two and disposed of the case on Tuesday. The woman said that all the cases were withdrawn and the legal proceedings in the trial court were ended.

In June 2019, the young woman lodged a complaint with the Mumbai Oshiwara Police, alleging that she had been raped with a promise of marriage and that she had an eight-year-old boy in the relationship. They have been living in Mumbai for many years. The complaint demanded money to raise the child. When Binoy filed a petition claiming that the case was fake and should be quashed, the Bombay High Court ordered a DNA test.

After the lockdown, when the work of the court returned to normal, the woman approached the High Court demanding the release of the DNA test results. The move to settle the case was initiated while the demand was pending before the court.
