A man who assaulted his stepdaughter more than 1,000 times when she was a teenager has received an exemplary sentence of 8 years in prison.

Éric Paquin-Carbonneau pleaded guilty last April at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse to a charge of sexual touching, incitement and sexual assault, while he was in a position of authority over his victim.
The 37-year-old man sexually assaulted Marie-Christine De Oliveira, his wife’s daughter, more than 1,000 times when she was 14 to 21 years old.
The assaults took place between 2011 and 2017, in Mont-Laurier, Laval and Bois-des-Filion.
Five years later, the victim is still fearful, even at home. She can no longer trust others and still has suicidal thoughts.
“It felt good to finally see him go. Now it’s her turn to stay on her own with her ideas,” said the 26-year-old young woman emotionally. Journal.

Paquin-Carbonneau told his prison officer that he had another victim while serving a sentence for a sexual offense once morest a minor in 2014.
Despite his confession, he always minimized his actions and absolved himself of responsibility, according to a sexological report.
“She manipulated me. She took advantage of me,” he said at the time.

In addition to getting an eight-year sentence, Paquin-Carbonneau will be on the sex offenders register for life.
