Sven-Göran Eriksson
has died of cancer.
He died today, Monday.

Sven-Göran Eriksson
was Sweden’s most famous
football coach.
He was called Svennis.

He was born in 1948
and grew up
in Torsby in Värmland.

Svennis became famous in the 1980s
when he coached IFK Gothenburg.
It went very well.
IFK Göteborg won the Allsvenskan,
the Swedish Cup and the UEFA Cup.
The Uefa Cup is called today
Europa League.

After that many teams wanted
have Svennis as coach.
Among other things, he trained
Benfica i Portugal
and Lazio in Italy.

In 2001, he was allowed to start training
England men’s national team.
It was very special.
Svennis was the first foreigner
the coach who got to train the team.
With the England team
he was in several World Cups.

Earlier this year told
Svennis that he was very ill.
He had contracted cancer
in the pancreas.

After that he stayed
celebrated at the Sports Gala.
He has traveled around and been acclaimed
of several teams he has coached.
He also got to exercise
team Liverpool in a match.
It was something like him
had dreamed of.

Svennis has two children.
He lived to be 76 years old.
