The death toll from a public transport bus and microbus overturning in a bank in the Amreya area, west of Alexandria, rose this evening, Saturday, to 8, and 8 injured.
Al-Amiriya Police Department received a second report from the residents stating that a public transport bus and a microbus had collided and overturned in a bank on the road to Masaken Al-Nasiriya Al-Jadida – Abu Sisa village.
Department officers and neighborhood officials, accompanied by ambulances, moved to the scene of the accident, and the examination revealed that a public transport bus collided with a microbus and both fell into the aforementioned bank.
The accident resulted in the death of 8 people and the injury of 8 others, with separate injuries and fractures. They were transferred to Al-Amiriya General Hospital and the bodies were transferred to the mortuary at the disposal of the Public Prosecution.
According to eyewitnesses, the steering wheel of the public transport bus driver on the aforementioned road was disrupted, which led to a collision with a microbus in the opposite direction, and both of them fell into the aforementioned bank.
A report on the incident was issued at the second Al-Amiriya Police Department, in preparation for submission to the Public Prosecution Office to undertake the investigation.
