Stress makes us more efficient in the short term and activates more strength than resources may be available. When do you get stressed?
Manuel Ronnefeldt: When several things hit me at the same time, an important deadline is breathing down my neck and then, to top it all off, something goes wrong privately. Then sometimes morning meditation or a long jog only helps to a limited extent
How do you integrate relaxation methods into your everyday life?
Ronnefeldt: I learned a short meditation technique during my community service in India in 2009, which I have actually used every morning since, no matter how short the night was or how long the celebration was. For me, this is just as natural as showering and brushing my teeth; I do not want to miss it anymore.
What made you develop the relaxation app 7Mind? What advantages does it offer users?
Ronnefeldt: My own experience of how uncomplicated meditation can be and how valuable it enriches your everyday life. In 2014 there was no simple, well-founded offer to start meditating – certainly not digitally. That was the idea for 7Mind. I wanted to combine both and put the topic of mindfulness on a scientific basis. I am convinced that there is no easier way to learn to meditate than with 7Mind. Over 1,000 exercises in the app provide variety, and everything from courses on stress and sleep to exercises for the break at work or at home is included.
What are your plans for the future of 7Mind? Which new technologies might help users to develop resilience in dealing with stress?
Ronnefeldt: Both in terms of the technical development of our app and the content on which we focus, it is always the exchange with our users that is trend-setting for us. We are always grateful how many people want to get in touch with us. We’re already developing something new, which is keeping us all very excited and on our toes internally.
