More than 13 million smartphones have already been infected with dangerous malware.
Cybersecurity specialist Human published a report on Scylla, a process of hacking SDKs, which are used in various mobile applications. Hackers thus manage to infect software to which they have not had direct access.
Once infected with the “hacked” SDK, the apps flood users with advertisements. There is real demand for this market, but as cybersecurity experts explain, hackers have hijacked the process. “The app contains code that tells advertisers and ad tech companies that it’s a totally different app (note: belonging to a more profitable category), with the aim of enticing these companies to use it. place ads or spend more money to place ads.”
In total, more than 75 infected applications have already been identified. They would have infected more than 13 million smartphones around the world. Smartphones and iOS are concerned.
