“74-Year-Old Dominican Dies After Being Hit by Van in Manhattan: Latest News and Updates”

NEW YORK.- A 74-year-old Dominican man died in the hospital two days following being struck by a van a block away from the assisted living center where he resided on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Ángel Rodríguez Albuquerque suffered head trauma and cuts to his arms. Paramedics took him to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was initially listed in stable condition, but he died two days later.

According to the New York police, the driver of a 2017 Ram pickup truck crashed into Rodriguez Albuquerque as he was crossing the street at Amsterdam Avenue and West 106 Street around 3:45 p.m. on May 10.

Rodríguez Albuquerque emigrated to the US. from the Dominican Republic and “worked hard to become a US citizen,” Guilliermo López, a staff member at the center where he lived, told the Daily News.

The victim left behind two adult children. “He was amazing, always taking care of us. She treated us like we were her other children,” Lopez added of the staff members. “It’s a tragedy”.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and no charges have been filed once morest him at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.
