70 migrants rescued in two operations

A total of 70 migrants were taken care of by sea rescue in the Channel for the day on Monday.

The migrants were dropped off at the port of Calais to be taken care of by the border police and the firefighters of Pas-de-Calais. “All are safe and sound,” the statement said.

Last weekend, 41 migrants were already rescued off Pas-de-Calais.

The maritime prefect once more “warns anyone who plans to cross the Channel regarding the risks involved”. The sector is “one of the busiest areas in the world” and the weather conditions are often difficult.
