DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Seven U.S. soldiers were wounded during an operation with Iraqi commandos against the Islamic State group, the U.S. military told The Associated Press on Saturday.
A U.S. military official told The Associated Press that five people were injured during the operation and two others were injured in falls. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the matter.
“All personnel are in stable condition,” the official said.
Thursday’s attack killed 15 people. U.S. Central Command said the combatants were carrying “a large number of weapons, grenades and explosive belts” during the operation, which the Iraqi army said was conducted in the Anbar Desert.
Iraq previously announced the attack but did not specify whether the United States was involved.
