FC Barcelona have seven senior players whose contracts expire at the end of the current season.
All players whose contract expires this summer can now start talks with new clubs as part of a Bosman transfer.
Across Europe, there are plenty of stars ready for a free transfer, including Lionel Messi (PSG), N’Golo Kante (Chelsea) and Karim Benzema (Real Madrid).
But the most affected team is FC Barcelona.
Sergio Busquets is the biggest star to be freed and is highly unlikely to sign an extension. It has been widely reported that the 34-year-old already has a deal with Inter Miami, and will join Major League Soccer in June.
Memphis Depay is also likely to leave FC Barcelona in 2023. His contract expires at the end of June and he will leave to find regular football, having barely played in his two years at Barca. It’s possible he’ll leave in January for a small fee with Atletico Madrid being the favourites.
Hector Bellerin will also leave. He returned to Barcelona on a one-year deal as a free transfer last summer but he failed to win and will be released.
Marcos Alonso has also arrived on a free transfer from Chelsea on a one-year deal. There are more chances for Alonso to stay at Barca but as things stand he is also expected to leave.
Sergi Roberto signed an extension until 2023 at the end of last season but it seems unlikely that he will sign another one. Barcelona have made a new right-back their priority in 2023.
Finally, reserve goalkeepers Inaki Pena and Arnau Tenas will see their contracts expire at the end of June.
