7 missing. Divers in action –

A sailboat sank in the sea in front of Porticello, in the Palermo area. According to firefighters, there were 22 people on the vessel: 15 were rescued and 7 are missing. On site, in addition to vehicles and men of the firefighters, also the Coast Guard that coordinates the operations and the police forces. The shipwreck is said to have occurred around the first light of day, around 5, due to bad sea conditions and a whirlwind.

The tragedy occurred about half a mile from the coast. In action, in particular, the Port Authority and the fire brigade divers to operate on the seabed where the vessel flying the English flag sank, at a depth of 49 meters. Also assisting the survivors were the 118 health workers and the Civil Protection. Among the people saved was also a one-year-old child, immediately transferred to the Di Cristina Hospital in the Sicilian capital. The survivors come from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland and Sri Lanka: two others have dual citizenship, English and French.
