Of the 815 health workers who have died from covid-19 in the country, 560 worked as doctors, according to the figures reported up to December 30 by the NGO Médicos Unidos de Venezuela.
This figure, which represents 68% of the dead health personnel, highlights the serious risk to which workers in public health centers are exposed, where there is a shortage of biosafety supplies and failures in services such as water, electricity and cleaning .
The state of Zulia is one of the most affected in terms of the number of deceased health workers. In this entity, 159 deaths have been registered, distributed in 127 doctors, 23 nurses and 9 of personnel in general.
It is followed by the central region, with 169 deaths in the Capital District and 74 in Carabobo.
Despite the implementation of a national vaccination plan since February 2021, the cases of covid-19 persist, however, this impact is not reflected in the official data offered by the Venezuelan State. This was stated by Jaime Lozano, national coordinator of Medicos Unidos de Venezuela, in an interview with Union Radio.
Lozano pointed out that until December 30 the The percentage of vaccinated once morest covid-19 did not reach 60%.
He indicated that although there has been an increase in the number of people who have been vaccinated in this new year, the number of vaccinated is not more than 85%, as state spokesmen say.
