In collaboration with Gestüt Zhashkiv in Ukraine, the Westfälische Pferdestammbuch organized an online auction for the sixth time, where only young Cornet Obolensky descendants came under the proverbial hammer. The highest price of 66,000 euros was paid for the two-year-old Come on Greta (As it should be x Godolphin).

All forty Cornet Obolensky descendants, all of whom were also bred by Zhashkiv Equestrian Sports School, found a new owner. Come on Greta raised the highest amount with 66,000 euros. The mare from Clinton’s mother line is a half-sister of the international 1.40m horse Cornet’s Celine (by Cornet Obolensky). Come on Greta remains in Ukraine.

Most expensive stallion

Caillou (Cornet Obolensky x World Way) became the best-selling stallion with a proceeds of 39,500 euros. He is a full brother of the Corvet, which performs at five-star level. Caillou, like Come on Greta, comes from Clinton’s maternal line. The two horses have the same great-grandmother.

Just under 20,000 euros

Waterfall (Cornet Obolensky x Lancer III), which is bred from the well-known Lady Reveil lineage, raised third place with 19,000 euros. She is going abroad. Check it (Cornet Obolensky x Canto) in The song (Cornet Obolensky x Arpeggio) both raised 18,000 euros.

All prices.

Come on, Greta: An Auction Tale of Hooves and Euros

Ah, horse auctions—where the thoroughbreds have better bloodlines than half the population of Europe, and the only thing galloping faster than these majestic beasts is the price tag. In the latest episode of riders’ roulette, the Westfälische Pferdestammbuch, in cahoots with Gestüt Zhashkiv in Ukraine, organized an online auction that had more jumpers than your average nightclub on a Saturday night.

The Star of the Show: Come on Greta

In this equine extravaganza, all eyes were on the two-year-old Come on Greta (As it should be x Godolphin), who trotted off with the crown jewels of the day, fetching a staggering 66,000 euros. Yes, you read that right—66,000! If only my bank account could prance about in half such glory. The poor soul buying her might now be hosting a ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign just to cover her feed bill.

Come on Greta isn’t just a pretty face either; she hails from a pedigree that would make any horse owner weak at the knees. She’s a half-sister to the international 1.40m superstar Cornet’s Celine. The cash cow that is Come on Greta will be staying in Ukraine, likely preparing to become the next four-legged celebrity. Just think, we could all be seeing her on a new season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’—or should I say, ‘Galloping with the Stars’?

And Then There Was Caillou

But what’s a party without a few fellas throwing around equally impressive numbers? The most expensive stallion of the day, Caillou (Cornet Obolensky x World Way), strutted in at a cool 39,500 euros. He’s not just any old stud; he’s the full brother of Corvet, who performs at a five-star level. Let’s be honest, at this point I’m just hoping my dog doesn’t eat his toys, let alone trying to maintain a stallion at such prices!

The Runners-Up Get Their Moment

And while Come on Greta and Caillou were stealing the limelight, let’s not forget the underdogs. Waterfall (Cornet Obolensky x Lancer III), a lady from the well-known Lady Reveil lineage, came in at third with 19,000 euros. Her owners must be packing their bags to travel abroad because who wouldn’t want to take a piece of that genetic gold with them?

Interestingly, two horses—Check it and The Song—both trotted away with 18,000 euros. It’s like watching the horse equivalent of a reality show—‘Real Horses of the Auction Block.’ Who knew that bidding could be so dramatic?

The Conclusion: Hoofing It to New Owners

The good news is that all forty Cornet Obolensky descendants found new homes! So, if you’re wondering what might be lurking behind your neighbor’s fence, it could very well be a youngCornet Obolensky wonder. And let’s be real— while they may have deep pockets, at least their horses will be well fed, well-bred, and possibly learning to jump over household bills!

In the end, this auction was not just about horses or hefty price tags; it was about the dreams that these marvelous animals carry with them. So, here’s to Come on Greta and her fellow equine companions—may they bring joy, prestige, and maybe a dash of drama to their new owners!
