6,200 job opportunities announced for Egyptians at Dabaa nuclear plant

The minister said that the visit he made at the end of last month, August 2024, to the project and his meeting with representatives of Egyptian and foreign companies working on establishing the “nuclear station” aimed to provide the necessary support for the success of this giant project.

The visit also aimed to provide skilled and trained workers, and the Minister stressed that the Ministry and its directorates are intensifying all their efforts to provide job opportunities within the framework of participating in implementing the objectives of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Human Being.”

According to a press release issued by the ministry, these opportunities are available in the Dabaa nuclear power plant project, which requires 2,300 armed blacksmiths, 900 concrete workers, 700 welders, 500 ventilation system installers, 1,300 reinforced concrete structure installers, and 500 electricians.

Heba Ahmed, Director General of Employment at the Ministry, explained that applications for these job opportunities can be submitted through the Ministry’s official website.

The Dabaa nuclear power plant is located in the Matrouh region on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, 350 kilometers from Cairo. The plant will include four power units with Russian VVER-1200 reactor units, which belong to the “3+” generation and meet the highest global requirements for efficiency and safety.

The total installed electrical capacity of the nuclear power plant will be about 4.8 gigawatts, and the engineering department of the state-owned company Rosatom is the general designer and general contractor for the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant.

This is the first nuclear power plant in Egypt, but it is also a private project of Rosatom and not only the largest order, but also the “first” experimental nuclear power in the state company’s portfolio on the African continent.
