62 people on board, it’s a disaster –

A plane carrying 62 people crashed in Vinhedo, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The airline Voepass announced, specifying that 58 were passengers and four crew members. The plane had taken off from the city of Cascavel, in the state of Parana, bound for the international airport of Guarulhos.

According to the company, the plane crashed was an ATR-72 turboprop. “There is still no confirmation of how the accident occurred or the current situation of the people on board,” Voepass said in a statement. Later, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on X: “I would like everyone to stand up and observe a minute of silence because a plane crashed in the city of Vinhedo, in São Paulo, with 58 passengers and 4 crew members and it seems that they are all dead.”

According to the São Paulo fire department, the crash occurred at 1:25 p.m. local time near the Miguel Melhado de Campos highway. The Fire Department, Civil Protection and Military Police are responding to the scene. Videos of the crash are circulating on social media, including the burning wreckage of the plane.
