61 Figures Will Receive Medals and Honors Ahead of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Including 23 Ministers

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto announced the list of recipients of awards and honors to be awarded at the celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

This announcement was made in a press statement held on Monday (12/8) at the Garuda Palace, Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN), Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

Hadi Tjahjanto, as Chairman of the Council for Titles, Medals and Honors (GTK), revealed that the GTK Council meeting had been held to select figures proposed by various ministries, agencies and institutions.

There are 61 candidates for the award consisting of various categories of awards and honors. These figures are considered to have met the requirements to receive awards and honors in accordance with the provisions of the law.

“The awarding of these service medals and honors was given to ministers, deputy ministers, and other officials for their dedication during their tenure in the government of President Joko Widodo in the 2014-2019 Working Cabinet and the 2019-2024 Advanced Indonesia Cabinet,” said Hadi Tjahjanto, through an official statement from the Presidential Secretariat Press Bureau, Monday (12/8).

The plan to award the medals and honors will be carried out directly by President Joko Widodo to prospective recipients and heirs of prospective recipients who have died and will be presented on August 14, 2024 at the State Palace in Jakarta.

“Of the total 61 prospective recipients, 23 are ministers, 10 are deputy ministers, 9 are officials of high state institutions, 7 are leaders of government and non-ministerial institutions, 5 are TNI and Polri officials, 5 are Indonesian citizens with a professional background, and 2 are cultural figures,” he added.

The following is a list of categories of awards and honors:

Pioneering Medal: 1 person
Honorary Medal of the Republic of Indonesia Star: 2 people
Mahaputra Star Medal of Honor: 39 people
Service Star Honorary Medal: 17 people
Parama Dharma Cultural Star Honorary Medal: 2 people
