In addition, relatives and friends from other European countries and the United States called the “Ukrainian Hotline” to inquire regarding the whereregardings of their sons, grandsons, husbands and brothers on the battlefield in Ukraine on behalf of their families in Russia. As for why he didn’t make this phone call himself, some Russian relatives and friends reluctantly pointed out that due to the strict control in Russia, they may be subject to retaliation or arrest by the Russian authorities.
An operator also said very sadly that since Russia invaded Ukraine, the hotline has received at least 6,000 calls for help, and the number is still increasing.
