John Fitzgerald Kennedy rode in a motorcade through the streets of Dallas in the company of his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy, on the sunny morning of November 22, 1963 when he was hit by several shots. Just thirty minutes later, the then president of the United States was declared dead. Six decades following the shocking attack that shook the world, today his three grandchildren, Rose, Tatiana and Jack, perpetuate his legacy.

The Kennedy family history was marked for many years by tragedy.

The beginning of the Kennedy dynasty

On September 12, 1953, then Senator JFK married Jacqueline Bouvier, better known as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, a reporter for the Washington Times Herald whom he had met during a dinner two years before.

The marriage proposal was made by phone while “Jackie O” was covering the coronation of Elizabeth II in London. The wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church in Newport, where the bride wore an ivory silk dress designed by African-American Ann Lowe. Her workshop suffered a flood ten days earlier, damaging the bridal dress and those of the bridesmaids.

After a miscarriage in 1954, the couple welcomed their first daughter, Arabella, in August 1956, but sadly she was stillborn. A year later, her daughter Caroline was born, followed by her only son, John F. Kennedy Jr. (known as John John), in 1960, who died in 1999 in a tragic plane crash in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, along with his wife, Carolyn Bessette, and sister-in-law Lauren.

Shortly before JFK’s assassination in 1963, his fourth child, Patrick, was born, who died two days later due to respiratory problems.

The marriage’s only surviving daughter, Caroline, was educated in the White House under a plan organized by her mother. Her life changed drastically five days before her sixth birthday, when her father was murdered. After the attack, she, her mother, and her brother moved to Georgetown, Washington, and later to an apartment on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

The heiress studied Law at Columbia University and, in December 2008, expressed her desire to be a senator to replace Hillary Clinton, although she ultimately did not achieve that position.

In 2016, Rose Schlossberg, together with Mara Nelson-Greenberg, launched End Time Girls Club, an apocalyptic web series on YouTube. “It arose as a response to the way New York City responded to Hurricane Sandy and how people were wildly unprepared, especially girls in damsel-in-distress mode,” the young woman explained at the time.

“I thought it would be interesting to create a world where girls had to be survivors without compromising their beauty factor,” she added.
