The body needs to walk, move and be active every day in order to be able to carry out its functions properly, and in the event of lack or insufficient movement, some changes occur that indicate the body’s need for that.
In the following lines, the “Consulto” reviews some signs that indicate not getting enough movement and activity, as published by the “WebMD” website.
Signs that the body needs movement
1- Constipation
When a person moves more, colon function improves and bowel movements are easier without constipation and abdominal pain.
The health and strength of your abdominal muscles and diaphragm is key to moving waste through your digestive system and fighting constipation, so regular exercise can help you enjoy that, especially as you age.
2- joint pain
Joint pain and difficulty moving can sometimes become a sign of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis or an autoimmune disease, but joints can also stiffen when not used enough.
3- Bad mood
Being sedentary can increase feelings of anxiety and depression, while walking, cycling, swimming and running can boost mood and improve self-confidence.
4- Weight gain
Walking and moving constantly helps burn fat and calories more, unlike sitting for a long time, which leads to weight gain as a result of fat accumulation.
5- Difficulty sleeping
In the event of difficulty sleeping at night and persistent insomnia, doctors advise moving during the day and maintaining regular pleasant activities, so that the person can sleep better and deeper at night.
6- High blood pressure and diabetes
Spending more time sitting increases your risk of developing high blood pressure, which inevitably leads to risks for heart diseases, such as coronary artery disease and heart attacks.
When physical activity is a regular part of daily life, it is easier for the body to control the level of glucose in the blood and counteract the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
