The Hospital Authority announced yesterday that a doctor in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at United Christian Hospital was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the 27th of this month, and a follow-up investigation revealed that seven other doctors were diagnosed with the disease. Today (29th), the Hospital Authority said that it found that 6 more doctors had tested positive, bringing a total of 14 people in the same department of the hospital to have been infected with the virus.
The Hospital Authority said today that it found six more doctors in the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Department of United Christian Hospital today. The hospital arranged for tests for the patients in the wards concerned, and so far all the results have come back negative, with one of the environmental samples collected by the ward’s doctor’s office coming back weakly positive.
The hospital has thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the relevant areas. Departmental emergency services will be maintained as normal. A small number of non-emergency services will be adjusted. The Orthopaedic and Trauma Department of Tseung Kwan O Hospital will also provide support. The hospital said that it will continue to investigate the source of infection of employees, closely monitor the health of employees and patients, and maintain communication with the Centre for Health Protection to follow up on the latest situation.
The emergency services of the relevant departments of United Hospital will remain normal, a small number of non-emergency services will be adjusted, and the Orthopaedic and Trauma Department of Tseung Kwan O Hospital will also provide support.
The HA said yesterday that eight doctors in the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Department of United Christian Hospital had tested positive. The doctor’s room, pantry and ward areas have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
