Rep. Yoo Jeong-joo criticized the Yoon Seok-yeol government as “the kingdom of the prosecution” and said, “The Yoon-seok train is broken and the brakes do not listen.” Rep. Yoo insisted, “If you do not reflect and will not stop, please come down,” and “If you will not come down, resign.”
Rep. Ahn said, “The Yoon Seok-yeol regime is more evil than the MB (Lee Myung-bak) regime and more incompetent than the Park Geun-hye regime.” Rep. Ahn urged the government and ruling party to accept the government investigation into the Itaewon disaster and the introduction of a special prosecutor, saying, “Prime Minister Han Deok-soo and Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min must be removed immediately.”
Rep. Min Hyeong-bae said, “The person who says that Chun Doo-hwan was good at politics has become the president. That is why the 10/29 disaster occurred,” and shouted slogans, “Take responsibility for Yoon Seok-yeol, the real culprit of the 10/29 disaster.” Rep. Ahn introduced Rep. Min as “the frontline striker of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime, who is mentally Democratic but legally independent.”
Organizers estimated 200,000 people gathered at the candlelight vigil that day. Police put the number at 25,000.
On this day, a counter-attack rally by conservative groups was also held in downtown Seoul. Conservative groups such as the Freedom Unification Party, led by Rev. Jeon Kwang-hoon, held a rally near Gwanghwamun.
They insisted on eradicating the Jupa wave and shouted slogans, “Arrest Lee Jae-myung and Moon Jae-in.” It is reported that the organizers estimated 50,000 people and the police estimated 30,000 people attended the rally.
