“GTO” is based on the manga of the same name by Tooru Fujisawa, and is a school drama in which Eikichi Onizuka, a former motorcycle gang high school teacher, confronts students and school problems with his unconventional behavior. Onizuka, a teacher who has nothing to do with position or profit or loss, solves the problems that are smoldering behind the scenes of society by expressing his true feelings and risking his life to face his students. In “GTO Revival,” Onizuka, who was once known as the Great Teacher, is assigned to a troubled high school as a teacher and gives Onizuka’s passionate lessons to troubled Reiwa high school students.

This time, Onizuka, played by Sorimachi, will be assigned to the private Sotoku Gakuin High School. The problem at this high school is “Sai no Kaho,” an influencer with nearly 2 million followers. It doesn’t matter if it’s a celebrity or an ordinary person, they pry on any topic, spread it, and cause a stir, and so far, many teachers and students at Soutoku Academy have been exposed. Because they are so targeted, there are rumors that there is a culprit in the school who is acting like a “judgment joke”, and the students spend their school days looking at each other’s expressions and being suspicious of each other every day.

The members who appeared in the 1998 version of “GTO” in this work are Onizuka’s former students Kunio Murai (Ikeuchi), Masaru Watanabe (Yamazaki), Yoshito Kikuchi (Kubozuka), Kenji Yoda (Tokuyama), and Noboru Yoshikawa. (Oguri) respectively. What kind of path have the five high school students taken since then? Pay attention to their unexpected appearance “26 years later”, including Onizuka’s best friend Ryuji Saejima (Fujiki).

In addition to the revival of “GTO” for the first time in 26 years, Sorimachi also commented on the decision to co-star with his former students and close friends, “I remember those days and feel nostalgic. I’m really happy that they kept their memories with them.” Comments have arrived from each of the former “GTO” members who will be reunited for one night only.

To be honest, when I heard that we would be playing GTO for the first time in 26 years, I mightn’t believe my ears. Moreover, I was surprised when I received the offer to play the role of Murai. Shaved head once more like back then? Or a uniform at this age? I’ve been imagining all sorts of things.lol
After so many years, I’m so happy to be reunited with Mr. Sorimachi and the rest of the cast, and to be able to perform together. I hope many people will watch this film, which is full of highlights.

[Yuta Yamazaki]
I feel that the fact that it can be revived once more following 26 years is truly an amazing drama. I’ve done a lot of work over the past 26 years, but I don’t think I’ve seen any other drama that has been so easily accepted by the public for its revival. I’m glad to have been able to work on this work, and to be able to revive it and work on it once more in this era.
I’ve still kept in contact and met up with the GTO members since then, but the feeling of them saying, “See you tomorrow” on set, made me feel like I was flashing back to those days when I was young. , I felt very emotional.
It’s strange that 26 years have passed without any change in my relationship with Sorimachi-san or with my co-stars from back then, and it felt like I was in a parallel world. One final scene gave me, Ikeuchi, Kubozuka, and Oguri goosebumps. The actors, who were over 40, had lost their vocabulary and were saying things like, “That’s amazing,” and “That’s kind of emotional,” and we were shaking as we watched the scene.

It was a wonderful and emotional shoot that reminded us of the “irreplaceable three months” 26 years ago when we worked together from morning till night both on and off-site, and felt as if we were stepping into our current position. Ta. The first scene of the crank-in, where I greeted the members from the time with a sense of pride and a little shyness, was filled with a strange feeling that I had never experienced before, as if I was in the audience’s perspective while performing. I was there. After watching the back view of Onizuka-sensei’s final cut, all four of us said out loud at the same time, “…it’s too emotional.”lol
To all the high school students living in 2024, and to all the fans, the rampage of our GTO is truly “great”, so please look forward to it!!…Ah, I’m looking forward to OA, this is how I felt back then. Ahhh.

It hardly feels like 26 years have passed since then. Too deep in my memory. However, on the way to the filming location, I had a lot of thoughts going through my mind, and a sense of nostalgia and freshness came back to me. When I arrived at the scene, Mr. Sorimachi said, “It’s been a while! You haven’t changed, thank you for appearing on the show.” These words were very emotional, and I was like, “Oh, you’re such a demon.” I remember feeling grounded.
When it was decided that GTO would be revived, we saw some familiar faces in costumes, and everyone on set said that it was always so emotional… It was a dream-like time for us, who were students at that time, to be able to play the role of passing the baton on to the viewers and the students in the field today. And Mr. Onizuka, who hasn’t changed, was still exceptionally great.

[Shun Oguri]
I mightn’t believe that I would be able to meet you all once more in this way for the first time in over 20 years.
I was surprised to see Onizuka-sensei, who I met following a long time, was the same as he was back then.
When something like this happens, it’s a moment when I realize that I’m glad I’ve continued this work, and each event has a strange feeling, like I was in a dream.
I was just excited.

[Naoto Fujiki]
It was a bolt out of the blue that “GTO” would be revived! I hadn’t even imagined it. A quarter of a century ago, “GTO” was the first time I participated as a regular in a drama series. I was deeply moved to be able to play the role once more.
I only appeared in one scene with Sorimachi-kun, but when we met once more, I was happy that he welcomed me with a warm touch (lol).
Even back then, it was a world where people mightn’t say what they wanted to say, but now that compliance has become stricter, what kind of trouble will Eikichi Onizuka cause? Please look forward to it!
