According to data from Abracopel (Brazilian Association for Awareness of the Dangers of Electricity), in the first half of 2022 alone, 949 electrical accidents with risk of sudden fire were recorded, with a record of 384 deaths. While in all of 2021 the number of accidents was 759.
Still according to the Association, compared to the previous year, 2021 had a 6% increase in accidents involving electricity, electric shocks and sudden fires, some of them fatal.
When the scenario is analyzed by Abracopel, it is possible to notice that in 2020, there was a drastic drop from 1,662 to 1,502 accidents, representing almost a 10% decrease. The 6% increase in 2021 once once more sparks an alert among work safety professionals, such as fatal incidents caused by flash fires.
A current agenda among professionals is regarding avoiding accidents at work in the electricity sectors and the risk of small fires. One of the most effective and safest ways is the investment in uniforms and PPE suitable for the activity, in the case of risks of sudden fire and electric shock, the Regulatory Standard that determines the main and necessary protection measures is NR10.
“The NR10 provides a very safe direction for activities involving the risk of electric arcs and flash fires. Through uniforms with technology and flame-resistant treatment, it is possible to save lives.” analyzes Breno Augusto dos Santos, executive specialist in NR10 uniforms at Guardian WP.
“You have to keep in mind that the NR10 uniform is not just a uniform. It is necessary to invest in the safety of employees with quality pieces that have technology present in every detail, from accessories to the trimming of uniforms”, comments Breno Augusto.
The executive specialist in NR10 uniforms reinforces the importance of projects to raise awareness among workers. With lectures and clear instructions on the importance of PPE and its correct use, which help to prevent accidents in sectors that present danger.
“To choose the ideal types of uniforms for the company, there needs to be a technical report so that the risk is determined and consequently the appropriate uniform is indicated.” concludes the Guardian WP executive.
The awareness of workers and companies has become effective in preventing fatal accidents, through the correct use of NR10 uniforms and PPE, in addition to technical visits and improvements in equipment that help to avoid accidents.
