The final early voting turnout in the Gyeonggi region for the June 1 local election was 19.06%.
In the preliminary voting that ended on the 28th, 2,199,42 out of 11,497,206 voters in the Gyeonggi area voted. This is 1.59 percentage points higher than the 17.47% of the final voter turnout in the last 7 local elections.
The national average early voting turnout is 20.62%, and Gyeonggi-do is in the lower ranks. It was the fourth lowest among 17 cities and provinces following Daegu with 14.80%, Gwangju with 17.28%, and Busan with 18.59%.
In the Gyeonggi region, a total of 652 people are elected from 368 constituencies, including 1 each for the provincial governor and provincial superintendent of education, 31 mayors/gun heads, 141 local provincial councilors, 406 local city/gun members, and 72 proportional representatives. Seongnam’s Bundangap National Assembly by-election will also be held.
Early voting was held from 6 am to 6 pm for two days from the 27th to the 28th. Corona 19 confirmed people voted from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on the 28th, the second day.
