After a little more than two days, on Saturday, November 26, 2022, the fantastic result of ORF Radio Vorarlberg’s 50-hour fundraising program is clear: 592,331.32 euros were collected for “LIGHT IN THE DUNKEL” during this campaign. 955 listeners of ORF Radio Vorarlberg took part and exchanged the most diverse song requests for a monetary donation.
Favorite hits for a good cause
Fulfilling the desired hits resulted in an extremely special music mix with a very high entertainment value: With songs like ABBA, the local greats Stefan Vögel and George Nussbaumer, the hard rockers Guns N’Roses or AC/DC, the fiber flatterer Pupo and up to the film music of the James Bond classics or Christmas music from Austria and all over the world, a colorful musical arc was created on these days, which made this fundraising campaign a very special listening experience.

Strong togetherness
In addition to the generous donations from the listening community, numerous major donors from Vorarlberg’s economy contributed the considerable sum of 215,000 euros. Thus, a total of 296,165.66 euros was collected in the 50-hour donation program by ORF Radio Vorarlberg. Thanks to the doubling of this amount by the federal government, the actual donations amount to a fantastic total of 592,331.32 euros.
50 years of “LIGHT INTO THE DARK”
On the occasion of 50 years of “LIGHT INTO THE DARK”, ORF Vorarlberg supported this year’s initiative with a 50-hour program of choice. From Thursday, November 24, 6:00 a.m. to Saturday, November 26, 8:00 a.m., ORF Radio Vorarlberg listeners might request their favorite hit for a donation of at least ten euros and thus support “LICHT INS DUNKEL” in Vorarlberg.
This year, “LICHT INS DUNKEL” is supporting the “Tischlein Deck Dich” association with ORF Vorarlberg, among others. The principle of this association is “distribution instead of destruction”, flawless food is collected and distributed to people in need. More than 1,800 people in Vorarlberg are currently benefiting from “Tischlein Deck Dich”.

Ulli von Delft will moderate the atmospheric “LIGHT IN THE DUNKEL” special on ORF Radio Vorarlberg on December 24 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. On December 23, between 6.30 and 7.00 p.m. on ORF 2, the first check handovers from major domestic donors can be seen. Then “Vorarlberg Today” is dedicated to the topic “LIGHT INTO THE DARK”. On Christmas Eve, the ORF Vorarlberg broadcasts live from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. from the ORF state radio station in Dornbirn (ORF 2 V) to collect donations for “LIGHT IN THE DUNKEL”. Kerstin Polzer and David Breznik will accompany you through these festive TV programs.
