While the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) epidemic is showing a rebound, the number of new confirmed cases nationwide by 9 pm on the 3rd pointed to the late 5,000s.

According to each local government, including Seoul, from 00:00 to 9pm on the same day, 5,880 new cases of Corona 19 were confirmed in 17 cities and provinces across the country.

There were 3641 fewer people than the previous day’s same time count (9521). This is because the number of confirmed cases tends to decrease as the number of weekend tests itself decreases. However, it showed a clear increase with 2,579 people from the 26th of last month (3301 people) a week ago and 2504 more than the 19th of last month (3376 people) two weeks ago, respectively.

As there is still time until the counting deadline, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 4th is expected to increase to around 6,000.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been showing a rebound in recent years.

In the past week (June 27-7.3), the number of daily new confirmed cases was 3,423 → 9894 → 10,455 → 9,591 → 9528 → 1715 → 1059, an average of 9095 per day. This number is more than 2,000 more than the average of 7079 in the previous week (6.20~26).

As of 9 p.m. on the same day, there were 3,317 (56.4%) new confirmed cases in the metropolitan area and 2,563 (43.6%) in non-metropolitan areas.

By region, Gyeonggi 1817, Seoul 1161, Incheon 339, Gyeongnam 332, Gyeongbuk 313, Gangwon 235, Daejeon 213, Busan 184, Chungnam 168, Chungbuk 166, Jeju 165, Daegu 164, Jeonnam and Ulsan each had 148, Gwangju 144, Jeonbuk 126, and Sejong 57.
