58-year-old citizen attacked to death for allegedly practicing witchcraft – Jornal OPaís

A 58-year-old Angolan citizen was beaten to death by family members on Sunday for allegedly being involved in witchcraft, the director of Institutional Communication and Press of the National Police Command in Cunene revealed yesterday. , Nicolau Tuvecalela.

The chief superintendent said that the crime occurred in the Evale commune, Cuanhama municipality, Cunene province. He made it known that the citizen was beaten and stabbed in the town of Ondoji, by eight family members, because he was accused of killing his wife, sister of the alleged killers. Speaking to Angop, he explained that the accused are already in detention.

Nicolau Tuvecalela advised the population to avoid taking justice into their own hands, opting to report all cases that disturb public order and tranquility. An identical case occurred in January this year, in the municipality of Ombadja, where the 28-year-old nephew killed his 57-year-old uncle with a machete, allegedly for practicing witchcraft. The municipality of Cuanhama, headquarters of the province of Cunene, has 360 thousand and 491 inhabitants, distributed among the municipalities of Ondjiva, Evale, Môngua, Nehone and Oshimolo.
