As 2024 elections are approaching, and it is important that all voters are well informed about what they need to bring, voting times and how to proceed if they need to justify their vote. To help, we’ve gathered all the important information so you can vote without any problems on the day. October 6in the first round, and, if necessary, in the October 27thnot second shift.

When and where to vote?

  • First round: October 6, 2024, from 8 am to 5 pm (Brasília time).
  • Second round (only in municipalities with more than 200 thousand voters and if necessary): October 27, 2024, from 8 am to 5 pm (Brasília time).

In some states, such as Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Roraima, and part of Amazonas, due to the time difference, polling stations open earlier, at 7 am (local time). In Acre, voting starts even earlier, at 6 am.

Mandatory documents to vote

To vote, you need to present a official document with photo. A voter registration card is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended, especially if you do not know your polling station number. Valid documents include:

  • Identity card (RG);
  • Work card;
  • National Driving License (CNH);
  • Passport;
  • Social identity or reservist certificate.

If you use the application e-Title With registered biometrics, it can replace these documents, but it will still be necessary to prove identity if biometrics are not active in the system.

How to find out your polling place

You can check your polling location in several ways:

  1. Via the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) website: Access the “Voting card and place” area and search by name or voter ID number.
  2. e-Título application: After downloading it, you will find the “Where to vote” function with all the necessary information.
  3. WhatsApp do TSE: Simply send a message to (61) 9637-1078 and select option “6” to obtain details of the voting location.

Remember that the e-Título application can only be downloaded or updated until the day before the election, i.e. until October 5thin the first round.

How to justify your vote

If you are unable to vote on election day, you must justify your absence. This can be done via the app e-Title on voting day, if you are outside your voting municipality, or later via the TSE website.

  • On election day: The justification can be made directly through e-Título, as long as the application can confirm, via GPS, that you are outside your electoral zone.
  • After the elections: Voters have up to 60 days to justify their absence in the “Justify” system on the TSE website, where they must attach a document proving their absence.

How to vote: voting order

In the 2024 elections, you will vote for two positions: councilor e mayor. The voting order in the electronic ballot box is as follows:

  1. Councilor: Enter your candidate number (5 digits), check the candidate’s photo and confirm.
  2. Mayor: Enter your candidate number (2 digits), check the candidate’s photo and confirm.

If you prefer to vote blank, just press the button “Branco”. If you make a mistake while entering the candidate number, press “Corrected” and repeat the procedure. To avoid forgetting, it is recommended to take an “electoral glue” with the candidates’ numbers to facilitate the voting process. It is worth remembering that you will not be allowed to take your cell phone to the electronic voting machine.
