Launched in July last year in Brazil, the TikTok Music arrived as a possible strong rival for established platforms like Spotify. However, after just over a year of operation, ByteDance, the company responsible for TikTok, announced that the service will be discontinued on November 28, 2024.
TikTok Music to be discontinued on November 28
With the shutdown of TikTok Music, users in countries like Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore e Mexico will no longer have access to the app. The decision marks a change in strategy for ByteDance, which now intends to focus on a new feature called “Add to Music App”rather than competing directly in the streaming market.

The idea is that, instead of operating its own service, TikTok now wants to strengthen partnerships with music streaming platforms, making it easier for users to migrate their music discoveries to their preferred services.
What does this mean for users?
With TikTok Music shutting down, users will still be able to discover new music through TikTok’s video platform, but they will have to use the “Add to Music” feature to save those songs to external platforms. TikTok currently has partnerships with Spotify, Apple Music e Amazon Musicand the company is in talks to include other streaming platforms in the future.
Mark your calendars: November 28, 2024 will be the last day for TikTok Music users.
